Tenpoint Shadow NXT & Stealth NXT: Key Differences
By reading the specification chart already, you know that they are nothing alike. Besides the parent design scheme and sharing NXT in their names, both of them are very different crossbows. The Stealth NXT is far more powerful and expensive than the Shadow NXT. The Shadow NXT is half of the price of Stealth NXT. You can guess, why the crossbows are so popular. Both of them competes against different crossbows.
Why Should You Choose The Shadow NXT
The reasoning is simple. You are looking for a budget crossbow that is powerful and can compete against big guns. That’s what the Shadow NXT is. It’s a fairly cheap crossbow that offers a lot of advantages. The first one is the speed. It can reach up to 390 FPS. Which is a lot for a crossbow priced like this.
The included Pro View 2 crossbow scope is also quite good. I will go as far as to say this scope is better than the one included in the cheaper Ravin crossbows.
Why Should You Choose The Stealth NXT Instead!
The price gap between the two is quite huge. Does Stealth NXT justify the gap? It sure does. Of course, you won’t get double the performance for double the money. But you will gain a significant leap in performances. Stealth NXT is far more powerful than Shadow NXT. It can generate up to 142 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. Which is a lot of energy mind you.
You can slay any target thrown in front of you. It can also reach 410 FPS. Which is 20 FPS faster than Shadow NXT. Is 20FPS a lot? Here it is. With the extra kinetic energy, you can cover a longer distance faster.
Disadvantages Of The Shadow NXT
My main problem with the Shadow NXT is the draw weight. As it’s a rather cheap crossbow. It doesn’t feature in cranking device. Although TenPoint did say it supports cranking device addition. But that will cost you a lot extra. Which can be justified if you are planning to stick with the crossbow for a long time. The reduced draw weight is a good thing to have. Other than that, I don’t have much to complain about the crossbow.
Disadvantages of the Stealth NXT
Tenpoint Stealth NXT is priced at an appealing price-point. It’s a category without much competition. Which makes it even more appealing to the hunters. One of the main con of this crossbow is the arrow. The included arrows are capable of reaching the claimed speed. If you use third party arrows, you may not be able to reach the claimed speed.
