Excalibur 308 Short vs Wicked Ridge Invader X4

Excalibur crossbows are one of the fewer manufacturers that are still making quality recurve crossbows. Most of the other crossbow manufacturers stopped making them already. The Excalibur has a lot of great crossbows for beginners. All of them are quite good option to introduce new people to the hobby.

Meanwhile, Wicked Ridge keeps dominating the sub $1000 crossbow market. They are a sub-brand of Tenpoint. Previously they used to be a different entity. But now, they make crossbows under the Tenpoint banner. Now that we know a little bit more about each manufacturer, how about the crossbows? Let’s get started.

Difference B/W Excalibur 308 Short & Wicked Ridge Invader X4

  • 308 Short is less powerful and slower.
  • 308 short requires a lot more drawing force.
  • Invader X4 is heavier.

Those are the noteworthy differences between the Excalibur 308 short vs Wicked ridge invader x4. Let’s find out advantages & disadvantages.

Reason To Choose The Excalibur 308 Short Banshee

The Banshee is not the best Excalibur crossbow by any means. The total power of this crossbow is non-existence compared to other Excalibur crossbows.

Unless you really want a recurve crossbow that won’t break your bank, you shouldn’t consider the Excalibur 308 Short Banshee. Definitely not, when we are comparing it with the Invader X4.

Why Should Wicked Ridge Invader X4 Instead!

The invader X4 is far more powerful and faster crossbow than the 308 Short. The 308 Short has no chance to even come close to the X4. This is not the first time we are comparing the X4 with another crossbow. If you have seen our other reviews, you already know just how good of a crossbow the X4 is.

Capable of firing at 360 FPS with 112 ft-lbs of kinetic energy is nothing to joke about. It’s enough to slay any prey you throw in front of it.

The 165 ft-lbs of draw weight is not that high either. You can easily lower the draw weight by using a rope cocker. Even a beginner can load the crossbow with ease.

Excalibur 308 Short Banshee Problems

The name of the crossbow suggests that it’s a short crossbow. Don’t fall for that. It’s anything but short. The crossbow also has a bad string ping. That vibrates among the whole crossbow. After every shot, the crossbow vibrates for a little while. Can be solved with string dampeners.

The draw weight is 254lbs. I kid you not. It’s actually 254lbs. Yeah, another reason why you should stay far away from this crossbow.

Cons Of The Wicked Ridge Invader X4

The weight distribution of the crossbow is not that good. The center of the crossbow is positioned away from the body. Making it front heavy and a bit hard to aim on the go.
