Difference Between Sniper 370 & Whitetail Hunter STR

  • Centerpoint Sniper 370 is heavier than hunter STR.
  • Whitetail hunter is more powerful and faster.
  • Whitetail hunter is more compact and shorter.

Those are the key differences between the Centerpoint Sniper 370 vs Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR. Lets find out advantages & disadvantages.

Centerpoint Sniper 370: Advantages

By reading the specification and the differences, you are already thinking that the Sniper 370 is not that good. That statement is not true. The overall length of the Centerpoint Sniper 370 is 40 inches. Which is a lot longer than average crossbow. How is that a selling point for the crossbow? Not all of us prefer a short crossbow. If you are too tall, then you will have a hard time loading a small crossbow. For those people the length alone is reason enough.

It’s capable of shooting at up to 370 FPS. That’s quite a good speed considering how cheap this crossbow is. 112 ft-lbs kinetic energy is no that bad either.

Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR: Advantages

The whitetail hunter on theory and on-field is a better crossbow. It’s smaller and more powerful than Sniper 370. Both of the reasons are quite solid. If you are looking for a compact crossbow that can fire like a tank and packs a huge punch, the Whitetail Hunter is right up your alley. It’s capable of generating up to 375 FPS of speed and 118 ft-lbs of kinetic energy.

Making this an ideal choice for beginner hunters. The draw weight of the Whitetail Hunter is 175 lbs. that’s 10lbs lesser than the Sniper 370. Overall, the Whitetail hunter is the better crossbow.

Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR: Advantages

The sniper 370 is a solid crossbow. There aren’t many cons available of this crossbow. The only nitpick I have against this crossbow is the draw weight. It’s 185 lbs. Not the heavies drawing force on the market. But definitely high for beginners. You can cut down the draw weight by half using a rope cocking device.

Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR: Cons

The Whitetail Hunter is one of the best crossbows that any beginners could get. But the crossbow is not all sunshine. The cloud on this crossbow is the noise. Barnett didn’t do a good job silencing this crossbow. The noise suppression isn’t that good. There is also slightly string ping. That can be annoying while shooting. But it’s nothing that a little bit of lube and dampeners can’t fix.

Centerpoint Sniper 370 vs Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR Summary

For me and for you, the winner here is clear. My recommendation here will be the Whitetail Hunter. It’s an excellent crossbow that can do well with a little bit of modification. Nothing drastic, just fix the string noise a bit and add additional noise dampeners. This will eliminate all the rattle and vibration from the crossbow.

As both of them are priced exactly the same, I can’t say that Sniper 370 is a better value for the money. For me the better value for the money is the Whitetail Hunter.
